My journal is friends only. Message me if you want to be friends! :)
I'm a multi-faceted person:
I love dogs, own three, and enjoy training as a hobby and profession. JoJo is my oldest (born September 19, 2003), a female greyhound who I rescued from a group in MI. She came off a track in Alabama, and finished 7th out of 8 dogs in both of her races. Dolce is another rescue, a border collie x Italian greyhound mix born around December of 2009, and came home afraid of everything. He has opened up so much, is a total lovebug once you get to know him. I have ambitions of competing him in agility and rally, but his dog-reactivity has put those dreams on hold until further notice. Taking on his problems taught me so much about training dogs with behavioral problems; it put me on the path of positive-reinforcement/clicker training, and sparked by desire to go pro. Zenzi is my puppy girl, born August 6, 2012 out of an oops litter between a border collie and Australian cattle dog (red heeler) who worked on a farm in Coachella, CA. She is super smart, has already wowed her puppy classmates, and is the youngest dog EVER to receive a Novice Trick Dog title at the tender age of 7 weeks! Look for us in competitions as soon as she's old enough. ;)
When I'm not having fun with my dogs or my clients' dogs, I'm teaching music. I hold a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Music Performance (violin) and perform regularly as a professional musician. I teach privately, and hold a studio of over 20 students. I teach orchestra at a nearby private PreK-12 Episcopal school, and coach a youth orchestra on Friday nights during the school year.
Something quirky about me is that I suffer from severe anxiety. My dogs aren't just my pets, they're my service dogs. I'd be lost without them and my wonderful husband.
